In Tamil Nadu, you're in a great spot to see Canopus, the second-brightest star in the night sky. Because it's located in the southern constellation Carina, it's visible from much of southern India during the cooler months.
You can typically spot Canopus from late November through March, with peak visibility in January and February.
It appears low in the southern sky, usually rising around 9–10 PM and setting before dawn. The best time to catch it is a few hours after sunset, when it’s high enough above the horizon to be seen clearly.
Right now, in late June, Canopus is not visible—it’s too close to the Sun’s position in the sky and remains below the horizon during nighttime hours.
